Fast and Gentle High Precision mixing
The complete design of STAR TRACE Mixer Combine fast mixing with slow shaft speed and gentle product handling resulting in highly homogenous mixes after extremely short mixing times.
Carefully positioned paddles on two low speeds, counter rotating shafts create a fluidized zone with low power consumption.
This means very low shear and friction which in turn makes the mixer ideal for fragile products which cannot tolerate rough handling.
Versatile for Liquid Additions
We are able to add liquids at much higher rates than normally possible, due to the high particle movement capacity and fluidization of the particles. All the material surfaces are constantly being exposed for maximum dispersion. It is possible to add small or large amounts of liquid, with high or low viscosity to powders, granules or pellets.
Filling Level
How it Works
The STAR TRACE mixer consists of twin drums with two counter rotating rotors and specifically angled paddles. The rotors overlap in the centre of the mixer and the paddles completely sweep the bottom and mix all the material at the same time.
In zone B the materials have a main movement counter clockwise at the perimeter of the mixer.
Simultaneously there are movements in the fluidized zone A both up and down, left and right and back and forth, All the time with space between the particles allowing free and random movement.
The interaction of the two zones is the key to the
unique fore berg mixing Technology as all particles are transported into
a highly homogeneous mix.
The STAR TRACE mixer is very flexible in filling volume. The model number
indicates the NOMINAL filling level i.e., the level just above the rotor
shafts, and is not to be mistaken for the total mixing volume.
From our nominal filling level of 100% variations from 40% to 140% can be tolerated with the same perfect mixing results. The mixing time may be a few seconds longer than normal when mixing very small or very large batches.

Options Liquid addition with FDB
When adding liquid to powders which tend to agglomerate, a Flow Distortion Bar (FDB) is used to improve the performance. The FDB consists of a rapidly rotating bar with pins. It creates a moving curtain of material over the paddles during spraying for maximum exposure and adding of shear.

Mixing with Pin Mill System
When higher shear is required the use of Pin Mill System is employed. It consists of two rapidly rotating bars with pins and a stationary shroud. The Pin Mill system is used for breaking lumps and agglomerates which may be present. When using FDB and Pin, Mill System the mixer should not be under filled.

Special Features
Large Access Doors

Provide easy access for inspection and cleaning of the mixer interior. The doors are constructed to be flush inside the mixer when closed and are easily maintained.

Model ST - 60 to ST – 2000 include a heavy duty multiple link chain drive with chain tensioner. ST-20 has direct gear wheel drive. ST-2500 and upwards include direct mounted, interconnected shaft drive.

cylinders on each door. From ST – 2000 and upwards one cylinder per
